Are Spirits Real?

I wanted to give a brief writing on spirits and the reality of them. There are so many opinions available via the web, some based on religion and some not. All of the opinions that I am about to reveal are based on obtained knowledge from research, books, and also personal experiences. Please remember that not everything that goes bump in the night is a spirit.

Spirits in general are energies or souls of deceased beings that have not moved to their next dwelling place. There are several different levels of spirits or haunts. I will define each type that I have personally found to be accurate:

Residual is defined as when there is a recorded repeat in time. There is no intelligent spirit present, meaning that the phenomenon can not interact. Time is basically stuck in rewind and replay. This can occur at different times, but most often occurs at the same time every day. It is often believed that it repeats at the exact moment that it originally happened.

Intelligent is based on several factors. For a haunting to be intelligent, there must be some type of interaction. This may include, but is not limited to, touching, smells, moving of objects, shutting or opening doors, observation, or noises. Intelligent spirits can come and go as they please, even though some may feel frightened to leave the house or land where they dwell. Spirits usually derive from an unexpected death; such as, murder, suicide, or accident. Spirits may also simply be a beloved family member saying hello, or in some cases goodbye. They do eventually move on to where they belong. Be aware that some spirits do not even realize they are deceased. They continue to go about as they normally would, but it is you who invade their territory.

Poltergeists are a very rare type of haunting. Generally they are not a haunting at all, but yet energies that surround typically a female of teen years, but is not limited to just them. This type of haunting is very hard to classify due to the intense phenomenon that occurs. It is generally one person in a family that is targeted the most, but is observed by the whole family. This person may be extremely stressed, or has gone through an extremely emotional situation. Phenomenon will usually begin with knocks and noises, then gradually increasing to objects being thrown, furniture moving around a room, etc. Once the person that is targeted receives adequate medical attention, the activity will begin to subside.

Benevolent spirits are known as “angels” or “spirit guides”. They are intelligent and are known to try and protect humans. It is often believed that each human is assigned one or more “guides” at birth.
Malevolent spirits mean just that “mal intent”. They intend to bring harm or mischief to the living. These spirits often come from humans that even in life brought torment and harm to others.

Demonic/Diabolical is defined as an intelligent inhuman spirit that takes pride in the thought of corrupting and destroying the living. This type of haunting is quite rare and can have dire consequences if it is not resolved quickly. These creatures contain inhuman strength. The first sign of this type of haunt includes, but is not limited to, scratching, pushing, smells of death or sulfur, objects moving, warmer temperatures, etc. The only concern this creature has is to find someone to possess. This can take days, months, even years to break someone’s spirit enough so that it may take control. Time is of no concern to it. These beings are all liars. They can appear in any form, such as:

Fog

Animal

Human, including children

Dark shadows

Other types of spirits

They choose to take these forms so that action is not taken to try to remove them. This often causes the person that they intend to possess to gain trust before they change the situation. Before actual possession, the diabolical spirit will bring intense fear and hopelessness to the victim.
