Why
do we do this?
We
get all kinds of reactions when we tell people that we're
paranormal investigators, but the number one thing we hear
is "Why do you do this?" It's simple:
Your
home is a safe haven, and if you've exhausted all other methods
of figuring out what's going on, a paranormal investigation
can provide some much needed answers. Imagine living in a
home with your family, and all these strange things have been
going on or just started happening ... You see things, hear
things, feel things you cannot explain or understand. Maybe
only one person has the experience which can be a frightening
feeling or at the very least, unsettling even if the experiences
aren't negative. More importantly, what if the person experiencing
these things is your child and you don't know how you can
help them?
What
exactly do we do?
The
simple answer to this question is... we hunt ghosts. But that
conjures up images of movies and sometimes, popular culture
doesn't really get it right! We take a scientific approach,
coming in with no preconceived notions, just our technical
equipment, experience, knowledge of the paranormal, to observe
and record, and then report our findings.
We
perform pre-investigation interviews with family and witnesses
who have experienced the unexplainable incident (s), and conduct
research on the structure and the surrounding area we will
be investigating. We return at an arranged date with our team
to conduct a thorough investigation, gathering audio and video
evidence, as well as photographic, and personal experiences,
if any.
The
evidence is collected and analyzed and then a report is prepared
to be presented to the client in approximately 2 - 3 weeks.
At that time, we make recommendations to the client as to
how to proceed or whether additional investigations are necessary.
For
more details on what is involved in a Paranormal Investigation,
please see our Tools
and Equipment page.
Where
do we do this?
Wherever we're needed. A private home, a business, a school...
anywhere someone is experiencing something out of the ordinary
and wants answers, that's where we do this. Our goal is to
conduct investigations discreetly and with integrity, to make
sure that everyone is comfortable with the process and hopefully
gets the answers they need. Are you experiencing things you
can't explain? Contact us, and we'll do what we can to help
you!
What
Sets Us Apart?
Many
'Paranormal Investigation Teams' are simply people who were
curious about ghosts and run around checking out 'haunted'
places. They may or may not have any formal training or education
and may not have likely had much of an interview prior to
joining the 'team'.
Our members stay current on theories and methods by reading and attending conferences to learn from experts in the field. As there is
more diversity required than an interest in Paranormal Investigation,
our team members also have experience in:
- Presentations for Guest Speaking at clubs and social gatherings
- Knowledge of technical equipment and experience in audio/video
- Education in history and research
- Knowledge of local Inland Empire history
- Love for the paranormal and sharing awareness of unexplainable
phenomena with others.
Most
of our investigators are residents of the Inland Empire area
and care about the communities we live in. We want to offer
fellow Inland Empire residents peace of mind and someone they
can talk to about the unusual things going on in their home
or place of business.
Where do your members come
from?
As
we just said, most of our GSPRS investigators have spent the
better parts of their lives in various cities of the Inland
Empire. They represent a variety of educational backgrounds,
fields of employment and spiritual beliefs. We welcome believers
and skeptics alike to balance things out and represent all
viewpoints.
When
we are initially contacted by someone interested in joining
us, the Lead Investigator returns an e-mail with a questionnaire
containing inquiries as to why they what to join, what experience,
knowledge or training they have had.
Key
team members are given the opportunity to review the answers
and give their impression of the applicant. If the team is
generally receptive of the applicant, a formal interview is
arranged where the Lead Investigator and key team member(s)
meet with the applicant. If everyone interacts well with the
candidate, they're presented with the team rules which are
discussed and agreed upon. They sign this document as well
as filling out an informational form that is for team use
only (think of it as an emergency contact/getting to know
about you form). Once these documents are in place, they are
brought on to the team on a provisional basis. Provided they
attend the meetings and training events consistently, they
are granted full membership after 90 days.
Have
you had any training?
Upon
induction into the group, each team member starts out as an
Investigator-In-Training and is required to complete a detailed program of training on technique and equipment in a variety
of settings and situations.
Our Team Members and Members in Training are expected to:
- Learn the proper use of the Technical Equipment.
- Read books, magazines and websties relevant to Paranormal
History and Phenomena.
- Attend relevant conferences/lectures/seminars whenever possible.
- Write short essays regarding their opinions of investigations
and properly fill out logs during investigations.
- Write articles, equipment or book reviews and other content
for the website.
- Learn how to use the programs we use to observe, collect
and report evidence.
- Attend monthly meetings and contribute nominal dues (all
dues go towards team needs, etc)
- Attend investigations and training sessions
When do you investigate?
We
investigate when it's convenient for the client, and for the
team. Everyone on this team is a volunteer, and outside of
GSPRS we do have regular jobs and families but we do our best
to work out a time and schedule that fits everyone's needs.
Night time is the right time for investigations, and that's
when we prefer to work, but again, it's based on first and
foremost, the needs of our clients.
It
is well known that the hours considered to be the most sensitive
paranormally are between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m., though there are
documented cases where paranormal activity happens during
regular daylight hours as well. For details regarding investigation
procedures please feel free to contact our Lead Investigator.
Since
investigations tend to run late into the evening and early
morning hours, we tend to prefer Friday and Saturdays but
can usually perform investigations on most other nights without
problems.
What
we are not ...
First
and foremost, we are not Ghost Busters. We do not corner,
entrap, collect or attempt to remove what we find. We are
there to simply observe and report. We can help locate someone
matching your spiritual beliefs who can come in and remove
the entities should you want to / need to do so.
Second,
we are not thrill seekers looking for a good ghost story to
scare us. Our group member's average age ranges in the early 30's
and we require you to be of a certain age in order to be considered
part of the team.
Third
and very most important - WE DO NOT TRESPASS. There
are many things that we feel damage the credibility of the
field of Paranormal Investigation. The most prominent of these
is trespassing. Though GSPRS may venture to parks, cemeteries
and other open public locations, we do not venture onto these
properties after posted hours and never without permission
of a caretaker or owner. If property is posted 'No Trespassing'
we do not investigate at that location and it is as simple
as that. Though we do encourage everyone to practice investigation
procedures and the use of their equipment on their own to
familiarize themselves with the trade, trespassing is dangerous!
When it is done in the name of Paranormal Research, it makes
us look bad and is disrespectful of the owners of the property.
Our investigators may enjoy working with other groups and
that is fine with us. We prefer them to take these standards
with them when they investigate and are never allowed to conduct
investigations in the groups name without the knowledge of
the founder and other team members.
Our
goal in GSPRS is to build and maintain a professional reputation
in the area of Paranormal Research and Investigation with
the Inland Empire Community. Unprofessional behavior is not
tolerated. We are not saying that most or all other paranormal
research groups are like this, but there are many groups out
there that simply assemble their team from a group of people
who click 'attend' without really knowing much about the people
they are allowing to represent them, and many are in it for
the thrills.
Golden
State Paranormal Research Society also does not condone the
use of drugs or other mind altering chemicals before, during
or after investigations. If a member is ill, on medication,
or illegal drugs, they are asked to not attend the investigation.
In the case of illegal drugs or illegal activity, the member
is expelled immediately from the group.
Do
we charge for our services ...
We
do not charge for our services. We operate our group off
the monthly dues from our members, and the time (see: blood,
sweat and tears) our members generously devote to the team.
However, we do accept donations. These donations are used
to defray the cost of the final reports our clients receive,
logs, fuel for travel to and from investigations, and maybe
some sodas for the people who sit behind the computers for
countless hours reviewing the audio and video files until
their eyes dry wide open.
If
you would like to make a donation to our group, please feel
free to contact us and we will
be happy to discuss the details.
What
we are here to do ...
Golden
State Paranormal is committed to doing everything we can to
find answers and help people feel comfortable in their homes
or businesses. We do so with the utmost respect of privacy
and integrity. If you would like an investigation, or simply
a consultation, please do not hesitate to contact
us.
